Description

SPAWN OF GORGANDUR, CIRCLE OF ORBOROS WARBEAST Said to be the spawn of the devourer wyrm itself, the Gorgandur are monstrous worm-like horrors that lair beneath the earth, occassionally surfacing to consume whole comminities. In recent years they have been quiescent, waiting to spawn, but now the waiting is over...
The Spawn of Gorgandur are not as terrifing as their sires, but are still formidable engines of destruction, endings the blackclad druids have learned to control.

Special Rules

SPAWN OF GORGANDUR

  • Abomination- Model/units -friendly or enemy - within 3" of this model must pass a command check or flee.
  • Burrow (* Action) - Place a marker in base contact with this model in the center of its front arc, then remove this model from the table. This model cannot be targeted by free strikes when it is removed from the table. Effects, spells, and animi on this model expire. This model cannot burrow into solid rock or man-made constructions. This model may surface during any of its controller's Control Phases before focus or fury points are allocated. When this model surfaces, place it anywhere completely within 8" of the center of the marker. There must be room for this model's base in the new location. This model cannot move or burrow during a turn it surfaces. The first melee attack made by this model the turn it surfaces receives automatically boosted attack and damage rolls. On a critical hit, target model is knocked down.
  • Eyeless Sight - A model with Eyeless Sight ignores concealment, cloud effects and stealth when making attacks or determining LOS.
  • Oversized - This model has a non-standard base size. For the purposes of power attacks, this model is considered to be large, and when interacting with other models treat large-based models as medium-based and medium-based models as small based. For line of sight determination this model is considered an obstruction. This model cannot be thrown.
  • Pathfinder - This model ignores movement penalties from rough terrain and obsticles. This model may charge across rough terrain.
  • Serpentiform - This model cannot be knocked down.
  • Sinkhole - When this model burrows, it may create a sinkhole. Center a 5" AOE template on this model before removing this model from the table. The template is rough terrain that remains on the table for one round. Models suffer -2 DEF while in the AOE.
  • Spell Ward - This model cannot be targeted by spells, friendly or enemy.
  • Tail Sweep (* Action) - Make a tail slap attack against every model in this models back arc.

CORROSIVE SLUDGE

  • Corrosion - The target model hit suffers corrosion. Corrosion is a continuous effect that slowly erodes its target. Corrosion does one point of damage each turn during the model’s maintenance phase until it expires on a D6 roll of 1 or 2. Corrosion is not affected by water.

JAW

  • Critical Swallow - On a critical hit, if its bite attack causes enough damage to destroy a small or medium-based model, the target model is removed from play.
  • Reach - 2" melee range.

TAIL SLAP

  • Back Arc Only - The tail slap can only target models in this models back arc.
  • Critical Knockdown - On a critical hit, models hit by this weapon are knocked down.
  • Reach - 2" melee range.

Animus

Spell Cost Range POW AOE UP OFF
Quake 2 Self - -
All models within 2" of this model are knocked down.

Concept Notes

This is based upon the Gorgandur write-up in the Monstronomicon which includes a mention that the Gorgandur are preparing to spawn. This is my interpretation of what such spawn would look like in Hordes. A full-sized Gorgandur would be a lot worse. For a model, there are a number of great worm and purple worm miniatures that would be suitable, for example:
Reaper Miniatures Purple Worm (This might fit on a large base)
Reaper Pre-painted Plastic Purple Worm (This also might fit on a large base)
Otherworld Miniatures Puple Worm (coming soon - looks too big to fit a large base)
D&D Miniatures Puple Worm (Scroll down the page a bit - definately too big for a large base!)
