Description
Major Adept Nolan Macmillin, Cygnar Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Character Attachment Nolan Macmillin is a legend among legends. He is highly regarded as the "Cpt. Maxwell Finn of Gun Mages". Born in a small town just off the Llaelese border, Nolan James Macmillin quickly found himself adept with guns and magic. He was quickly recruited into the Arcane Tempest Order. A natural beast of a man, there were many troubles with this man. First off, he regarded normal Magelock Pistols as "too small and weak", and strived to bond with a "more manly" gun. He was always causing trouble, and many people do not know how he passed his initiation. He immediately rose in the ranks, making the rank of Captain Magus in no time.
His selling point was a brutal battle between several Khadoran Man-o-War Companies. His commanding officer had already been killed, and all he had at his disposal was a Trencher Company, a few squads of Gun Mages, and an injured Ogrun Bokur who his officer had hired to help. Many do not know what happened in this battle, as much of the men have either been killed or sworn a vow of silence, but rumors have it that Macmillin pryed the Scatterguns off of two dead Trencher's hands and destroyed a Kodiak and it's Man-o-War controller single-handedly. Eye-witnesses also state that they remember a Juggernaut turning around and killing an entire Squad of Man-o-Wars in a single swing, but many disregard this as blasphemy, as neither Macmillin or any other known magi at the time has ever shown Warcaster abilities. Afterwards, however, Macmillin was given a promotion to Major and Adept, one of the only ever given this honor.
Special Rules
Macmillin
- Inspiring Presence- Enemy models/units in melee range of Macmillin and enemy models/units with Macmillin in their melee range must pass a command check or flee. Friendly models in Macmillin's command area may reroll failed command checks and gain +1 CMD.
- Precision- When making spray attacks, Macmillin does not hit friendly models. He may also make ranged attacks against models in his melee range. Models do gain normal melee bonuses if they are engaged with a model other then Macmillin, but if Macmillin misses he does not have to roll to hit another friendly model.
- Officer- This model is the leader.
- Tactics: True Sight- Models with True Sight ignore Concealment, Camouflage and Stealth.
- Tough - When this model suffers sufficient damage to be destroyed, its controller rolls a d6. On a 5 or 6, the model is knocked down instead of being destroyed.
Magelock Scattergun
- Both Guns(*Attack)- This model may discharge both Scatterguns as a single POW 16 attack. On a Critical Hit, target model is knocked down.
- Close Combat Weapon- If targeting a model within 2" of Macmillin with a Magelock Scattergun attack, Macmillin gains +2 to attack and damage rolls for the purposes of that attack. When targeting a model farther away then 6", Macmillin gets -2 to attack and damage rolls for the purposes of that attack.
- Mage Killer - This weapon's attacks may damage models only affected by magic attacks. When resolving this weapon's attacks, ignore unspent focus on target models with the Focus Manipulation ability.
Concept Notes
This may be a Gun Mage with no Arcane Effect, but in it's place, he has Mage Killer. This makes him and his unit ideal for a caster kill, even though Macmillin is the only one who ignore focus.
I also added in the fact that his weapons were basically shotguns, doing more damage and being easier to hit with closer to him then farther away. And if you survive a both gun discharge, you damn well better be on your ass, or else you're just a badass. ;P
Playtesting Notes
Not playtested yet. Feel free, in fact, I encourage it. I suggest using Finn, and somehow converting Magnus' scatterguns to fit on his person. If you want to go the extra mile, green stuff him a nice robe and maybe a hat. ;P
