Description
Phaelice The Reclusive, Circle of Oroboros Iosan Warlock Character
"She is beyond even my influences. What happened to her as a child that could have incited such an isolation?" Morvhanna, The Autumnblade
Phaelice is the most reclusive of the potents, her domain being located in the northern part of the Thornwood. Her domain is covered in webs, with danger lurking around every corner. Phaelice has a fascination with spiders, seeing them as the perfect creatures. They are perfectly symmetrical, can adapt to any situation, and create beautiful works of art: their webs. Phaelice was born in Shyrr, a secret from her father, the brutal tyrant that ruled at the time, who sought to "cure" the elves by eradicating their deities. She was taken to Issyrah when the Consulate seized and killed 2000 "souless" infants. She enrolled in the church of Ayisla, the elven deity of Night, and began to study magic. Late into her training, Phaelice felt a calling that she couldn't explain. The wind whispered to her, and she spent most of her time in the forest. She was one of the first elves to have the Wilding, and this is what protected Phaelice from the effects of the Rivening. She left Issyrah shortly after, following the whispers of a nameless spirit claiming to be the Deity of webs and Destiny. Baldur the Stonecleaver found her on the edges of Ios, and delivered her to Morvhanna, where she began her training. When Morvhanna tried to use Phaelice as a political tool, Phaelice struck back with an onslaught of magic. She nearly killed Morvhanna, and secured her place as an Overseer. She was sent to the northern Thornwood to prove her worth. This part of the forest was ruled by two Infernals that could take spiderform. They had no name, but these two demons were belived to be druids who had betrayed the order by declaring allegiance to one of Toruk's progeny. Phaelice used her newfound powers to summon spiders from all across the Thornwood. She then reached out, and could feel the ties between the bigger spiders, awakening her warlock potential. She defeated the two spirits and bound them to herself, elevating her status to that of a potent. She has since been busy exerting her control over the area she won, calling spiders and continuing in secret her worship of her guiding spirit. She has emerged now, as the druids return from Castle of Keys, and the attack on Nyssor in Korsk. In combat, Phaelice combines druidic magic with Iosan magic, giving her warbeasts spiderlike traits, and blasting her enemies with blasts of arcane feedback.Phaelice still watches her former homeland, and the marching of her people to war concerns her. She reserves her burning hatred though for the Eldritch that defiled Nyssor, and Ethrunbral, the dragon that desecrated her former fane. She will not rest until all of her enemies lie dead in her webs.
