Description
Tybrind the Winterwolf, Circle Orboros Warlock Character
"I've seen him single handedly bring down a charging Ogrun in one smooth swipe and a more loyal man I have not met. But I do not understand the way he looks at me. It's as though his eyes were haunted." - Kaya the Wildborne
Tybrind Vig hails from a long line of Wolves of Orboros. So it was no surprise when he decided to enlist with them. Tybrind rose through the ranks of the Wolves with surprising speed. He achieved the title of Huntsman in a few short years and then Master of the Hunt in a little over a decade. An otherwise hard man and toughened soldier, Tybrind is known for his loyalty. Once he swears himself to a cause he will see that cause through to the end no matter how hard or bloody that end might be. It was in this way that he almost died to defend Kaya the Wildborne.
Kaya doesn't remember the day she met Tybrind, but he remembers it like it was yesterday. When he was merely a unranking Wolf of Orboros, his unit was assigned to Baldur the Stonecleaver on a seemingly straight forward bodyguard mission. They were to go into a small town and bring back a girl who's wilding was so powerfull it had been felt for miles away. They retreived the girl with no problem but on the way back they were set upon by a group Menite Exemplars Errant. In the heated skirmish that followed Tybrind lost many of his unit including his father, who was the Huntsman. Baldur used his woldwatchers to carve a way out for them but not before Tybrind was mortally wounded by throwing himself between Kaya and an Exemplar. With the life flowing out of him, Tybrind took up his father's broken spear and jammed it into the exemplar's throat and roared to the heavens. A nearby wild knarlhorn satyr
responded by smashing through the exemplars and forcing them to retreat. Tybrind found that it was a bitter irony to discover he was a warlock with his dying breath.
However, Tybrind did not die that day. The fearsome death knell that accompanied Tybrind's brutal and sudden wilding drew the eye of Orboros himself. The Devourer reveled in the excess with which Tybrind butchered his own killer. He interceded on Tybrind's behalf granting him vitality in proportion to his brutality. His wounds instantly knitted and Tybrind stood heaving, sobbing, armour cracked and broken, covered in his own blood yet with his flesh unscathed. He scooped the unconscious little Kaya into his arms and delivered her to her surrogate father to be, Baldur.
In honor of Tybrind's father's sacrifice as well as out of gratitude for Tybrind's selflessness, Baldur had a great sword blade made from the remnants of Tybrind's father's spear. The great weapon was named Faoir, forged from the fallen huntsman's funeral pyre, and Tybrind has carried it ever since. Tybrind believed that by forging it thus, it would capture and hold his father's soul so that he would never lose his beloved patriarch's guidance. There are those among the Wolves who say they have born witness to Tybrind whispering softly to his blade on the eave of battle, holding congress with a voice that only he can hear. Some say it is in this way that he relates to his dead father. Others insist it is Orboros himself that Tybrind converses with. Tybrind did not see Kaya for a long long time after their first encounter and though he never forgot her, he had his own concerns. For a brief time, Baldur served as Tybrind's mentor; however, Tybrind learned only the practical basics of magic, instead relying on the blunt force of his own fury, before feeling the itch to return to his brothers in arms. As a warlock he found rising through the ranks of the Wolves of Orboros came with ease. In fact, he found it hard to remain among their ranks as the druids constantly pestered him with petitions to formally join The Circle. Tybrind, with tact, turned them down as he preferred the straightforward company of soldiers to the political machinations of the blackclads.
When next Tybrind encounterd Kaya it was at the battle at the Castle of Keys where The Circle's failed ambush attempt almost resulted in Kaya's death. Tybrind observed with disgust how willing Morvahna was to throw Kaya's life away in order to save her own. Tybrind was instrumental in cutting off a group of Skorne that were heading toward Kaya's already hopeless position. Stuck battling the Skorne to give Kaya a fighting chance, Tybrind witnessed the destruction of the dragon, Pyromalfic, and withdrew his forces once he was sure Kaya was safe.
Upon regrouping after the battle, Tybrind found himself face to face with Kaya the Wildborne for the first time since she was a child. Tybrind found much to his surprise that she was now a woman, and more importantly a hard and strong warrior. On that day, Tybrind lost his heart. He swore himself and his personal Wolves, now known as Tybrind's Claw, to Kaya's service. Kaya regarded his fervor for her with equal amounts of affection and confusion as she could not understand why a man so battle hardened would treat her so softly. The two became close friends though and many attribute Tybrind's grace on the battle field to his time spent sparring with her. On occasion their closeness even ended with them finding physical comfort in each other's embrace. This was the beginning of the end for them though, because while Tybrind viewed their romantic interludes very seriously, Kaya, being a wild thing at heart, viewed their trysts as nothing more than the combination of animal attraction combined with the heat of the moment.
However, largely due to his relationship with Kaya, he earned a serious enemy in Morvahna the Autmnblade. Just as he sought to show Kaya what a snake Morvahna really is, Morvahna would attempt to undermine him and distance him from Kaya in order to cover her tracks. Tybrind became increasingly hostile with Morvahna, earning him rebukes from Kaya. After all, he was still just a Wolf of Orboros, due to his own choosing, though he hated to be reminded of that by Kaya who, of all people, should have respected his desire to stay out of politics.
This conflict came to a heartbreaking head when Morvahna sent Tybrind battle plans forged to mimic Kaya's hand. Under this directive, Tybrind led the Claw into a Skorne ambush and they were almost slaughtered to the man. Only Tybrind and his huntsman Dreggs survived, largely due to their incredible battle synergy. Tybrind cleared a path for them while Dregg's hail of modified dual crossbow fire kept anyone else from closing the gaps made by Tybrind.
Tybrind, never one for having the wool pulled over his eyes, suspected some foul play, refusing to believe that Kaya would betray him so deeply. He even suspected Morvahna herself was at the core of the act. Unfortunately he voiced his suspicions to Kaya and since the forged battle orders were lost in the ambush he had no proof. Largely due to Kaya's choice to actively serve under Morvahna, combined with his lack of evidence, caused Kaya to turn her back on the insolent renegade soldier. She made it all too clear that without druid status, and with no ability to back his accusations, that he was out of his league and beyond his means. He had lost his father, his loyal brothers in arms, and now his love. All he had left was Dreggs and she, having stoked a fire in her heart for him since the day they first met, jumped at the chance to be more than his huntsman and let him find what solace he could for his broken life in her bed.
In his latest bid to politically damage Morvahna he has thrown his lot in with Krueger the Stormwrath. Rumor has it that he may even formally join the druids under Krueger to strengthen him politically against Morvahna. This has led to a strange comradery with one of the most notorious and feared warlocks to serve the circle. Kromac the Ravenous and Tybrind the Wolfblooded immediately disliked each other upon meeting. Their dislike quickly grew into hatred and, as males are prone to, led to physical violence. It was only by the intervention of Krueger himself that the clash didn't end in death. After the fight, Kromac and Tybrind were often found drinking in the same halls, at the same tables, across from each other silently sharing their hatred for a common enemy. This fast friendship forged from hate worries Dreggs who fears that the influence of the cannibal lord will further drive Tybrind into his dangerous brooding sessions.
Now Tybrind has other priorities. War is coming and The Circle needs an army. Despite his controversial decision to stay out of druid politics and remain among the soldiers, the omnipotents have seen in him a potential to make the Wolves of Orboros into more than an organized militia. In Tybrind, they see the potential of the Wolves of Orboros to become a full blown army.
Special Rules
WARLOCK
- Pathfinder - During his activation, Tybrind ignores movement penalties from, and may charge across, rough terrain and obstacles.
- Riposte Master - When Tybrind is the target of a melee attack that misses, he may, if able, immediately make a melee attack targeting the attacking model if it is within his melee range. Tybrind gains an additional die on Riposte Master attack rolls. Riposte Master attacks may be boosted.
- Braggart - While in Dreggs' LOS, after rolling the attack roll normally, Tybrind may roll an additional die. This die does nothing except provide a critical hit if it matches a die already rolled.
- Vengeful Rage - If Dreggs is destroyed or removed from play by an enemy model, Tybrind gains 2" of movement, +2 MAT, and Berserk for one round. Every time a model with Berserk destroys another model with a melee attack, it must imediately make one melee attack against another model in its melee range. While affected by Vengeful Rage, Tybrind's front arc extends 360 degrees.
- Cohort: Wolves in the Fold - Reeves of Orboros fielded in a horde with Tybrind gain Advance Deployment. Place a unit with Advance Deployment after normal deployment, up to 12" beyond the established deployment zone.
Faoir
- Critical Armor Penetration - On a critical hit, models with medium-sized or larger bases have their ARM stats halved when calculating damage from Faoir. Effects that further modify ARM are not reduced. On a critical hit, Faoir gains +2 POW against models with small bases.
- Reach - 2" melee range.
Eulogy
- Flamberge - Enemy models in Eulogy's melee range must immediately make a CMD check. Subtract the attacking model's current CMD from Tybrind's current CMD and use the difference as a modifier, be it positive or negative, for the attacking model's command check. If the attacking model fails the check, they roll one less die on all melee attack rolls targeting Vig.
Feat
- The Reaping
When haggared and overexposed, Tybrind unleashes the aspect of the predator in his warrior's souls and so draws the eye of Orboros to their aid. The Devourer grants them a repreive from death in exchange for spilling blood for him. It matters not whose blood, so long as there will be blood.
Friendly Circle warrior models in Tybrind's control range gain The Reaping for one round. Once during this round, when a model affected by The Reaping is destroyed by an attack, instead of being removed from play, it may immediately move up to 6" ignoring rough terrain, obstacles, and free strikes and make an attack at +2 to the attack roll. If this attack does damage against a living model, the attacking model immediately gains back one wound point.

Concept Notes
The suggested model is going to be a Wolf of Oroboros officer model. I am going to cut off the spear and replace it with the blade from the Wolfen Tracker's spear (the Wolfen Tracker is a Confrontation model). I am goint to replace the outstretched hand of the officer with Ysis the Viper's dagger hand (Ysis is also a confrontation model) or possibly the mage hunter's blade hand from Warmachine. So far the suggested paint scheme is a white cloak and gold on black for the armor to set him appart from the rest of the wolves. Other than that standard browns for the leathers and garments. Remember, don't make him fancy cause he is the rugged sort.

Description
DREGGS, HUNSTMAN OF ORBOROS
"They say that 'ol Tybrind the Winterwolf has nine lives. I say balls on that! I've seen his nine lives and her name is Dreggs." - Alten Ashley, Monster Hunter
Dreggs was never taken to lady like behavior which is something her family was quite proud of actually. Dreggs' village was a hub for Wolves of Orboros activity so her tomboyish attitude only made her parents all the more certain that she would join her brother among the Wolves and bring further honor to her family. Unfortunately her village was targeted by a Menite Exemplar raid whose purpose was to send a message of fear to the Circle of Orboros. Dreggs' parents hid her and she watched from her hiding place as her village was slaughtered. Helpless, she witnessed High Executioner Servath Reznik put her parents and friends to the wrack. Even children did not escape his cruel attention. After the raid passed through, it wasn't until her brother, Dirge, heard word of what happened to his village and returned to mourn that Dreggs was found. Her brother, though his heart was heavy with the grief of finding his parents and friends tortured and dead, was overjoyed to find his little sister alive. She furiously swore to join the Wolves or the Reeves for a chance at revenge. However it soon became clear that Dreggs had a rare lung complication and Dirge, refusing to risk his last remaining relation, forbid her to join and found a safe town for her to live in while he served the Circle.
Dreggs, however, refused to give up. She studied Iosian crossbow designs, even managing to replecate and improve the range of their disruptor bolts, and heavily modified two Reeve crossbows, making the lighter weight weapon she named Tooth and the more powerful longer ranged weapon she dubbed Claw. She also developed her own bolts that were specially weighted to allow her to knock heavily armored opponents off balance by firing a barrage of arrows. Even if the opponent's armor renders the bolts useless from a damage perspective, she can still set them up for a killer blow by denying them the ground beneath them. She practiced for hours on end, focusing on running while shooting with pinpoint accuracy as well as standing her ground to deliver a dizzying amount of fire. By her adolescence, and largely due to her forced athleticism, she outgrew her lung problem and prepared to appeal to her brother even though she knew that he would refuse to risk losing her in combat.
But fate would favor Dreggs as her brother was assigned to the unit known as Tybrind's Claw, under the command of the controversial Winter Wolf who refused promotion into the Blackclad ranks, perferring instead to remain a Master of the Hunt. In her brother's promotion, she saw an opportunity that she couldn't pass up. If she could impress Vig enough to enlist her, then she could go above her brother and join with or without his blessing.
Dreggs left her town and journeyed out to find Tybrind's Claw. She intercepted them at a Circle outpost. There she took to the tree tops and roofs, infiltrating the compound. Then all she had to do was wait for Vig to come out in the open. When he did, she waited for the opportune moment and fired two shots from her modified crossbows as she dove from her perch in the trees. Those shots probably saved her life because they threw Vig off balance and caused a lethal head cleave from Faoir to merely slash up the side of her face, just shy of gouging her eye. As she landed, Tybrind put his parry blade to her throat and prepared to slice. However pressure on his throat and groin made him pause just long enough to realize that both of her crossbows were pressed firmly against those vulnerable and barely armored areas. He realized two things instantly: one, that if she wanted him dead, she could have put both bolts though his throat and jewels before he would have had a chance to even raise his parry blade. Two, that he absolutely needed a bow fighter of her caliber among the ranks of Tybrind's Claw. Dreggs, from that day on, was a prized member of the Claw and even rose to the rank of Huntsman. Dirge was both very proud and terribly saddened by his sister's dedication to a life of violence, though he only showed his pride to her. After her first encounter with Vig though, Dreggs felt girly for the first time in her life. Looking into eyes that didn't even blink when staring down a gut-wrenchingly painful death brought up female urges that she found as exciting as she found alien and unsettling. She had always been too focused to notice the attention of men and when she did she thought it off putting and an irritating distraction. So she found the strange feeling in her stomach when she was in Vig's company so infuriating that she decided she would either have to kill him or have him. She decided on the latter only by a hair. She even found herself rubbing ash into the face wound Vig had given her, ensuring a scar, one she wears proudly for all to see. He frustration at realizing that Vig was as oblivious to her affections as she was to those of the boys of her village knew no bounds. This was only compounded by his liaison with Kaya the Wildborne, who she felt, and rightly so, bore Vig no real love but merely a visceral animal lust that Dreggs found both revolting and wasteful of a man so loyal.
In the Claw, Dreggs found a new family. This made the end of the Claw all the more tragic for her. After seeing Dirge cut down before her eyes, she fought with amazing coldness as she put bolts between the eyes of any Skorne who tried to close the distance and take from her the one last thing she had: Tybrind Vig. After they made it out, Dreggs watched with a furious hatred in her soul as Kaya both broke Tybrind's heart and refused him aid. Dreggs knew she couldn't be Kaya but she hoped that as she picked up the pieces of her love's broken heart that she might hold a different but equal part of him. She thought that perhaps by healing him, he would see in her more than a warm body, and while her hard work payed off, Tybrind is far too hardened to let her know. Even though she doesn't know that he reciprocates her feelings, she takes much comfort in the physical reality she knows in his arms.
Tybrind's current behavior worries Dreggs. She has woken up more than once in the bed they share, roused by her lover's fevered conversations with Faoir, the sword that also shares their bed. Not the least of her troubles stems from Tybrind's attending brutal Tharn cannibal rites alongside Krueger and, more worryingly, his strange friendship with Kromac the Ravenous, a friendship forged by their mutual hatred of the Autumnblade. Perhaps it would worry her less if she could at least attend the rites with Tybrind, though he expressly forbids her to follow. Her repressed rage, though, has served as the bane of her enemies as she fights all the harder and all the more viciously due to her woes. If she can't save him from himself, she can damn well save Tybrind from everything else.
Special Rules
DREGGS
- Run 'n Gun- At any point during her movement Dreggs may stop and make ranged attacks. She may continue to move after making a ranged attack provided she has not already moved her full movement.
- Pathfinder- During her activation, Dreggs ignores movement penalties from, and may charge across, rough terrain and obstacles.
- Hunter- Dreggs' LOS is never blocked by forests. When making a ranged attack, Dreggs ignores Camouflage, concealment, and Prowl.
- Cover Me- When targeting an enemy model in melee with Tybrind, Dreggs does not suffer the Target in Melee penalty. When she misses a model in melee, do not include Tybrind when randomly determining which model is the new target of the attack. If Tybrind has enemy models in his melee range but is not within melee range of an enemy model himself, Dreggs gains +2 to her ranged attack damage rolls against those models.
- Soulmate- Dreggs is included in any horde that also includes Tybrind Vig. Once per game, when Tybrind suffers damage from an enemy attack, he may spend 1 fury point to allow Dreggs to move her SPD ignoring rough terrain and obstacles and make either a Dual Shot with Tooth or a boosted Pistol Whip attack with Claw. If Tybrind is destroyed or removed from play, remove Dreggs from play also.
- Chain Attack: Barrage- If Dreggs makes both successfull attack rolls on a dual shot with Tooth followed by a successfull ranged attack with Claw, she may make an additional attack with Claw. Target model hit by this attack is moved directly back d3 inches but stops if it touches another models base or an obstacle. This attack does not count toward Claw's ROF and does no damage.
TOOTH
- Dual Shot- Dreggs may voluntarily forfeit her movement to make one additional ranged attack with Tooth. These attacks recieve the aiming bonus.
CLAW
- Disruptor Bolt- Target model hit by Disruptor Bolt loses all focus points. A warcaster hit by Disruptor Bolt does not replenish focus points next turn. A warjack hit by Disruptor Bolt suffers Disruption. A warjack suffering Disruption cannot be allocated focus points or channel spells for one round.
- Weighted Ammo- Target model hit by Claw but not damaged automatically takes 1 DMG.
- Pistol Whip- After a successfull melee attack roll with Claw, Dreggs may opt not to make a damage roll and instead make a Pistol Whip attack. A model hit with a Pistol Whip attack is moved 1" directly away from Dreggs. Large based models are not affected by Pistol Whip attacks. During this movement a model may not be targeted with free strikes. Dreggs may make ranged attacks after a Pistol Whip attack, if able.
