Why?

  • Why write conversion rules for Warhammer 40K to work with Warmachine/Hordes rules?
    • To improve upon the original.
    • To use 40k figures in crossover battles.
    • As a fun design project.
  • A helpful link to the Development Center to view theory behind stats and faction design.

Fluff

In the grim darkness of the 41st millenium, blah blah.

  • The Imperium
  • Chaos
  • Psychers
  • The Warp
  • Technology of the 41st Millenium vs technology of the Iron Kingdoms

Rules

Stats

Warmachine/Hordes Stats:

  • SPD - In WM, average SPD is 6, with 5 or 4 for slow things and 7 or 8 for fast things. Most infantry and troopers would then be SPD 6, with bulky orheavy things having SPD 5, and Fleet of Foot or Fast attack things having SPD 7 or even 8.

Army Composition

  • HQ is equivalent to warcaster/warlock- One per 500 pts, field allowance based off of number of HQ Models. May or may not have spells, may or may not have a 'battlegroup'.
  • Units of troops- Most units will be 'Leader and 5 troops, with up to 4 additional troopers'. Elites could be 6-man units of fixed size. Some units may have models which are on medium or large-based models. Some units may be 3-5 man, especially medium sized or powerful models.
  • Unit attachments- for 40k troop choices that have optional wargear, this can be represented by unit attachments.

Units

  • Unit Leaders- if the 40K version has an optional sergeant or leader, that model is the Unit Leader. If not, a fluff re-write is used to have one model to be the leader.
  • Unit Size- Units may have no more than 10 members + unit attachments.

Vehicals

Special rules will need to be developed for vehicals. Some basic ideas would be:

  • Facing- Front, left side, right side, back
  • Movement- Cannot run, may only move in a straight line then turn, may trample over troopers a la Tank Shock.
  • Systems- Has a damage grid like a warjack. As systems are lost, loses weapons, movement. When suffering critical hits, may cause crew to be stunned or explode.
